Meat Processing Drop-Off Instructions in Graysville TN
Easy, Safe, and Reliable Animal Drop-Off
At Ross’s Custom Slaughter, we make the drop-off process simple and convenient for all customers. Whether you’re bringing in livestock or deer, our goal is to ensure a smooth experience from the moment you arrive.
Our facility is located at 2667 Graysville Road, Graysville, Tennessee, and serves the entire Tri County area. Because we operate by appointment, we ask every customer to schedule a drop-off time in advance. This allows us to prepare for your arrival, maintain cold storage space, and provide the prompt, professional service you expect.
We understand that bringing in an animal for processing can be stressful or time-sensitive — especially during hunting season or farm production times. Our team works efficiently to receive your animal, confirm your instructions, and begin processing as quickly as possible..

Scheduling Your Drop-Off Appointment
Call or Email to Reserve
Before arriving, please contact us to reserve a processing slot:

Because processing space fills up quickly — especially during deer season and in the fall — we recommend booking early. We’ll discuss the type of animal you’re bringing, your preferred cuts, and any special instructions.
What to Expect When You Arrive
When you arrive at our facility:
- Pull up to the designated drop-off area.
- A team member will greet you and confirm your information.
- We’ll check your animal for identification and proper handling (field dressing for deer or pre-slaughter condition for livestock).
- We’ll review your
cut sheet — a list of your preferred cuts, packaging, and processing options.
- Once confirmed, your animal will be tagged, labeled, and moved to the cold storage or processing area.
We’ll then notify you when your order is ready for pickup.

Drop-Off Rules and Requirements
Clean and Proper Handling
We require all animals to be delivered in clean, sanitary condition. For hunters, deer must be field-dressed and properly cooled before arrival. For livestock owners, animals must be healthy, properly identified, and delivered safely.
Animals showing signs of disease or contamination cannot be accepted. Please check for dirt, hair, or debris in the cavity and ensure all animals have been cooled to prevent spoilage.
Proper Packaging for Transport
If you’re bringing in smaller animals, please transport them in sealed coolers or sanitary containers. Avoid using trash bags or thin plastic liners that can leak. Keeping your animal clean during transport helps us maintain food safety and ensures better results in processing.
Legal and Identification Requirements
- Deer must be properly tagged in accordance with
Tennessee state hunting regulations.
- Livestock must be legally owned and free of restrictions.
- Customers must provide a name and phone number at drop-off for identification.
These policies protect both our customers and our facility, ensuring that every order can be processed safely and legally.
Preparing Deer for Drop-Off
Field Dressing Guidelines
If you’re dropping off a deer, please follow these steps:
- Field dress the animal as soon as possible after harvest.
- Remove all internal organs.
- Rinse the cavity with clean water to remove debris or excess blood.
- Cool the animal quickly — ideally by packing with ice or hanging in a cooler.
Labeling and Tagging
Bring your confirmation number or license for verification. Once accepted, your deer will be tagged and tracked throughout processing to ensure you receive your exact meat back — never mixed with another hunter’s order.

Live Animal Delivery
If you’re bringing in livestock such as beef, pigs, sheep, or goats, please call ahead to arrange arrival times. Livestock must be delivered in a safe trailer or transport vehicle and unloaded at the designated holding area.

Humane Handling
We follow humane handling procedures for all animals to ensure safety, respect, and meat quality. Stress-free handling helps maintain tenderness and reduces processing loss.
